Paphos Cyprus

The island of dreams. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and for thousands of years has operated as a trading centre due to its location at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia. It is one of the sunniest islands in the Mediterranean, with an average of 340 days of sunshine per year. Cyprus was a British colony until 1960 and some remnants of that relationship remain. The main language is Greek but English is widely spoken. Cars drive on the left, and road signs are in both Greek and English. Both banking and legal systems are based on the British model.

Emba, Paphos

Everything under the sun. Emba (meaning ‘Enter’ in the Cypriot Dialect) is a picturesque Greek village in the district of Paphos at 135m above sea level within close proximity to blue flag beaches, excellent golf courses, traditional tavernas and modern supermarkets as well as the international school of Paphos . It is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty.

Enhancing the village square is a 12th century church Panayia Chryseleoussa (the Virgin Mary, The Mother of Christ). It is built in Byzantine style and its interior walls
are decorated with frescoes, some of which are of outstanding historical and
religious interest.
